How do You Find Motivation?
Motivation Monday – How do You Find Motivation?
Let’s talk about motivation Monday, everybody and I mean everybody uses that term these days. When they do “motivation Monday” everybody throws up their little meme, their inspirational picture of people climbing mountains, or even better…
A quote with of a picture of people climbing mountains and overcoming obstacles. While motivation is great. I want to talk about what facilitates motivation.
I want to help you turn the “idea” of motivation into something you can actually do.
What’s the first step to Motivation?
Not long ago I posted about excellence on our Facebook page and that topic is very relevant to what I’m getting ready to discuss here. So let’s talk about excellence, shall we? Let’s talk about this character trait and how we can embody it. To be great and exemplify excellence.
First, you must identify and define your purpose. You MUST have a purpose.
With that being said, the first step, I would argue, the most important step in finding motivation is to define who you are and what your purpose is in this world. What do you stand for?
What do you stand for?
That’s a powerful question to ask, What do you stand for?
If you can’t answer that question, to put it simply, you haven’t really put a lot of thought into it. I’m going to encourage you to actually put some thought into this and define what your purpose is. Once you define what your purpose is, then everything else can be set around it as support structures and pillars to actually get you to where you want to be in life.
Once you’ve identified your purpose let’s now discuss your support structures – you can identify the result, and once you identified the result, then it’s really easy to see what you’re looking for and actually come up with a process to get there. I hope you can see how I’m connecting those dots.
Motivation will help you achieve the result you seek
Define who you are. Which equals a result and then figure out what the steps are that you need to take in order to achieve that result. That’s your process, taking those steps at any point, if a part of the process isn’t working, the way you want to reevaluate and figure out how to modify the change, do whatever you have to do to make sure you get to those results.
It’s imperative that you do not give up. Just step outside yourself for a moment and evaluate.
This is important because once you know the result. Once you can see the result you are after then you can set the tasks that are needed for you to get to your end goal. The goal you’re looking for must be in alignment with the tasks. If those tasks aren’t serving you well then you need to rearrange them or change them altogether. Again, it goes back to that process.
This reevaluation allows you to work on the process, which is going to get you the result you want.
Don’t miss your opportunity for a new beginning
So, Monday is a great day to start a new beginning every week. And I would encourage you to look at things that way. Don’t dwell in the past right now, this moment is a brand new beginning. It’s how you set up for tomorrow. Every Monday is a great opportunity.
So instead of thinking about something that just kind of makes you feel good, motivationally, just understand it’s a new beginning and it’s a chance to own it! To own your purpose and do what it is that you were meant to do.
If it’s one piece of advice I could give you, don’t let that slip by. You’re only going to have this one day and then it’s gone, maximize it, maximize every single day that you have, and that is going to lead you to that process and eventually, to success.
So think about these things, figure out how you’re going to internalize and adopt that mindset and then go to work, start implementing, and remember…
Make it a great day!
